My Mum's Sephardic Gefilte Fish Recipe

  • One kilo of ground carp
  • 3 onions, peeled grated
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ½ tablespoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 3/4 of a cup of ground almonds
  • Bubbies Gefilte Fish & Really Old Cookbooks - Kosher Everyday
  • FOR THE STOCK
  • 1 teaspoonsalt (to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 large carrots cut into 1/4 inch discs
  • 3-4 teeths of garlic
  • 2 large onion, cut into fourths
  • reserved fish bones
  • Pot of water

Method of Preparation

Put the ingredients of the stock in a pot and bring to a boil and simmer

Mix all the ingredients together

Scoop the ingredients into  flattened balls and place into pot
